About the Role
As a Design Engineer at CTI, you’ll transform client ideas into clear, build-ready AV system designs. You’ll serve as the technical backbone from concept to execution, collaborating with Sales, Project Managers, BIM/CAD teams, and field staff to ensure projects are smart, buildable, and aligned with CTI standards. Expect a lively, creative environment where fun is mandatory and passion for technology drives everything we do.
Responsibilities
- Design complete commercial AV systems for spaces like conference rooms, boardrooms, training areas, and enterprise collaboration environments.
- Create AV signal flow diagrams, system drawings, and documentation using Visio and/or CAD.
- Review project scope, proposals, and kickoff information, asking clarifying questions to ensure technical requirements are met.
- Select AV equipment and define system architecture that aligns with CTI standards, real-world constraints, and budgets.
- Collaborate with Sales, Project Managers, BIM/CAD teams, architects, consultants, IT, and electrical stakeholders to ensure coordinated and buildable designs.
- Provide technical direction and quality assurance on drawings to ensure field teams can trust the documentation.
- Support execution by answering field/programming questions, clarifying procurement substitutions, and updating designs due to site conditions or product availability.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience designing commercial AV systems (not entry-level; strong signal flow skills required).
- Proven experience creating AV documentation/drawings (signal flow, system drawings, Visio/CAD).
- Ability to select equipment and build practical, buildable solutions aligned with standards and budgets.
- Strong communication skills for cross-team coordination and translating technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative and supportive work style, with independence and curiosity to ask the right questions.
- Associate degree preferred but not required; attitude and aptitude are key.
Benefits
- A culture where “fun is mandatory,” teams value your ideas, and wins (big and small) are celebrated.
- Opportunities for growth and learning.
- Competitive base salary (DOE).
- Employer-matched medical, prescription, and dental insurance (available after 60 days).
- Employer-matched 401K up to 3% (after 6 months).
