About the Role

We are seeking an Attractions Team Member B who will embody the heart and soul of our mission of creating memories worth repeating while bringing families closer together and caring deeply about our brand. The Attractions Team Member B is responsible for all aspects of assigned attractions, including safety, friendliness, cleanliness, and line speed. The role requires displaying and living out "Lead with Love" qualities—patience, kindness, trust, unselfishness, truthfulness, forgiveness, dedication, and accountability—strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture.

Responsibilities

  • Operate ride controls/control panels in all weather conditions
  • Communicate and enforce safety rules
  • Steady guests while entering/exiting ride vehicles during evacuations
  • Inspect harness and other safety equipment prior to use
  • React calmly and quickly in stressful/emergency situations
  • Physically assist guests throughout the ride/attraction as required
  • Observe guest actions during ride operations to prevent safety hazards
  • Ensure guests are not adjusting safety equipment while on the ride/attraction
  • Complete required safety paperwork daily
  • Initiate friendly interactions with guests
  • Clean ride/attraction daily as needed
  • Work varying hours and at different areas when needed
  • Complete ride/attraction safety ride-around/walk-throughs if/when required
  • Learn and enforce all centralized measuring guidelines
  • Follow all safety standards, including reporting any violations

Requirements

  • Minimum age requirements vary by role:
    • 14 years: Grouper/Greeter positions at Thunderhead, Tennessee Tornado, FireChaser Express, Dragonflier
    • 16 years: Ride Operators at Moderate Thrill Attractions (as defined by IAAPA standards) and Grouper/Greeter positions at Thunderhead, Tennessee Tornado, FireChaser Express, Dragonflier
    • 18 years: Ride Operators at High Thrill Attractions (as defined by IAAPA standards), any activity involving motor vehicles (e.g., trams, shuttles), work on or ascent of lift hills, and rail-operated vehicles
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen
  • Ability to safely operate company vehicles per policy; valid driver’s license, proof of auto liability insurance, and acceptable driving record required

  • Able to wear a full-body safety harness and climb up to a 200ft lift for inspections, evaluations, and training
  • Able to climb evacuation steps and maintain balance
  • Able to ride all attractions requiring physical ride-through inspections
  • Able to wear all required PPE
  • Tolerate chemicals/detergents used in the area
  • Subject to periodic random drug screening per company policy
  • Remain attentive and alert at all times
  • Memorize written safety standards and/or scripts
  • Speak clearly, including use of P/A systems and two-way radios
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions with exposure to bees, insects, and wildlife

Physical and Cognitive Requirements

  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasional to frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs. using company safety guidelines
  • Mobility: Intermittent to prolonged sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to 13 hours per shift; travel to various areas on property, including changes in terrain, stairs, and uneven surfaces
  • Repetitive Movements: Performing repetitive tasks, including repeated use of hands, arms, or other body parts
  • Environmental Conditions: Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat; work indoors and outdoors
  • Cognitive and Sensory Requirements: Strong cognitive skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, processing and retaining information, attention to detail, and effective communication using approved methods
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the job
  • Manual dexterity necessary to complete all job duties
  • Able to sit and/or stand for long or short periods
