Responsibilities

  • Directs, evaluates, and trains attorneys/prosecutors and staff.
  • Oversees all operations including case assignments, docket call, and plea bargains or settlement negotiations.
  • Presents the state/client in pre-trial and evidentiary hearings and jury/court trials.
  • Ensures effective communication with defense attorneys, court personnel, victims and family members, witnesses, the general public, the media, and other interested parties.
  • Litigates and conducts legal research.
  • Drafts legal documents and interprets laws, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Law degree from an accredited law school.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in criminal law, preferably at the district attorney’s office.
  • Experience managing and training staff.
  • Proven ability to represent the state/client in high-profile cases.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, rules, and regulations.
