Responsibilities
- Directs, evaluates, and trains attorneys/prosecutors and staff.
- Oversees all operations including case assignments, docket call, and plea bargains or settlement negotiations.
- Presents the state/client in pre-trial and evidentiary hearings and jury/court trials.
- Ensures effective communication with defense attorneys, court personnel, victims and family members, witnesses, the general public, the media, and other interested parties.
- Litigates and conducts legal research.
- Drafts legal documents and interprets laws, rules, and regulations.
Qualifications
- Law degree from an accredited law school.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in criminal law, preferably at the district attorney’s office.
- Experience managing and training staff.
- Proven ability to represent the state/client in high-profile cases.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, rules, and regulations.
