About the role

Miller Johnson, a Midwest law firm known for its entrepreneurial spirit, down to earth culture, and deep-rooted commitment to the communities we serve, is seeking an Attorney Recruitment and Development Coordinator in their Grand Rapids, Chicago, and Detroit offices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and operational support for the Attorney Recruitment and Development team, including scheduling, meeting preparation, agendas, notes, follow-up, and special projects.
  • Maintain departmental trackers, calendars, shared folders, templates, forms, checklists, SOPs, and other process documentation.
  • Track department budgets, invoices, expenses, vendor payments, and related administrative matters.
  • Care for committees, meetings, departmental initiatives, and cross-functional projects with professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Cook up attorney recruiting logistics, including interview scheduling, candidate communications, materials, travel, reimbursements, feedback collection, and follow up.
  • Maintain candidate files, application data, recruiting records, and related information in viGlobal, shared drives, and other systems.
  • Support law school recruiting, on campus interviews, recruiting events, event registrations, collateral preparation, and related logistics.
  • Aid with the Summer Associate Program, including scheduling, event coordination, orientation materials, evaluations, surveys, mentorship assignments, attendance tracking, and closing processes.
  • Support attorney onboarding and integration by preparing orientation schedules, materials, welcome communications, milestone tracking, check ins, and follow up communications.
  • Maintain records related to attorney onboarding, integration, mentorship participation, engagement, feedback, and retention initiatives.
  • Aid with the mentorship program, including pairings, surveys, evaluations, participation tracking, and annual program assessment materials.
  • Cook up attorney integration and engagement efforts with coordination with Human Resources, Practice Group Leaders, committees, and department leadership.
  • Aid with administration of professional development programs, attorney training sessions, CLE programs, and other learning initiatives, including scheduling, logistics, communications, materials, attendance tracking, and post program follow up.
  • Aid with attorney evaluation processes, including scheduling, distribution and collection of materials, completion tracking, recordkeeping, reporting, and follow up on attorney development plans.
  • Aid with CLE, bar admission, licensing, and compliance related tracking, reporting, applications, certificates, attorney outreach, and documentation as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate data across recruiting, onboarding, mentorship, professional development, CLE, evaluation, and attorney lifecycle programs.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports, dashboards, summaries, metrics, and feedback reports for department leadership.
  • Cook up logistics for department sponsored programs and events, including registrations, catering, travel, vendor communications, shipments, setup, materials, attendance tracking, and evaluation collection.
  • Support firmwide culture, engagement, community, recruiting, and professional development initiatives.
  • Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, compliance, and professionalism in all data handling, recordkeeping, communications, and department support activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 2+ years of experience in recruiting, HR, or professional development (law firm or professional services experience preferred).

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple programs and stakeholders simultaneously.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with viGlobal, Symplicity, or similar systems preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and initiative.
