About the role
A respected litigation law firm is seeking a Virginia-licensed Associate Attorney with 2-10 years of litigation experience to join its growing practice. This position focuses primarily on the defense of physicians, hospitals, healthcare systems, and other medical professionals in complex medical malpractice litigation throughout Virginia. The role also includes representing healthcare providers in professional licensure and disciplinary matters before state regulatory boards.
Responsibilities
- Defend medical malpractice claims on behalf of healthcare providers.
- Manage cases through all phases of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation.
- Work with expert witnesses and medical professionals to develop litigation strategies.
- Represent clients in professional licensure and disciplinary proceedings before applicable regulatory agencies.
- Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and the court.
- Collaborate with attorneys on case strategy while independently managing assigned matters.
Qualifications
- Active license to practice law in Virginia.
- 2-10 years of litigation experience.
- Strong analytical, legal writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
