About the Role

This position works under the direction of the Senior Director, Legal, and other Legal Department leadership, supporting Universal Creative projects and theme park operations. Responsibilities include drafting and interpreting complex design and construction contracts, managing compliance and regulatory requirements, and mitigating and resolving claims and disputes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support for designated business units and projects by negotiating, drafting, and interpreting all phases of complex design and construction contracts, scopes of work, and similar legal and construction documents in accordance with Legal Department policies and procedures.
  • Identify and analyze potential claims, draft required notices and supporting documentation, and analyze against existing contract documents to mitigate, avoid, and resolve claims and disputes.
  • Ensure compliance with Universal, corporate, and Legal Department policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the development of training materials and presentations addressing contractual compliance, regulatory obligations, and required internal approvals.
  • Identify, implement, and provide legal support for efficiencies, initiatives, and transformations in contracting procedures, claims mitigation, and project requirements, balancing risk tolerance with business initiatives.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Member of a State Bar (Florida or California preferred).
  • 1+ year of post-law school experience as an attorney, preferably with a law firm or corporate legal department.
