About the role

The Caltrans San Diego Legal Office seeks a highly motivated attorney to handle various legal matters including tort, real property, environmental, construction arbitration, contracts, employment, appellate, and transactional law.

Responsibilities

• Studies, interprets, and applies laws, court decisions, and other authorities in preparing complex cases, opinions, and briefs.
• Prepares and presents cases for trial.
• Performs a variety of transactional work under general direction.
• Works on statewide committees and attends statewide legal workshops.

Requirements

Licenses required: CA BAR membership.

Qualifications

Experience with legal research, law and motion, discovery, and trial and appellate work is preferred but not required.

Skills

Strong legal research and writing skills, experience with litigation, and knowledge of relevant legal areas.

Pay

$10,852.00 - $15,325.00 A New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
