About the role
The Caltrans Legal Division - Fresno Office seeks dedicated attorneys to support the Department in high-stakes litigation and house counsel work. The successful candidate will join an established team representing the Department in various court settings and transactional areas.
Responsibilities
- Support the Department in high-stakes litigation and house counsel work
- Represent the Department in Superior, Federal, and Appellate courts, and before the Office of Administrative Hearings and the State Personnel Board
- Provide legal representation in a variety of transactional areas
- Advises on federal and state statutes, regulations, and judicial case-law authority
- Offer excellent training resources and professional development
- Facilitate information sharing and networking through statewide committees
- Participate in workshops to build statewide relationships and learn about different areas of practice
- Receive promotions based on performance and availability of funds
Requirements
The positions require a CA BAR membership license. Applicants must provide a copy of their license prior to being hired. Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a State-owned or leased vehicle.

Pay
$10,852.00 - $15,325.00 A New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
