About the role

As a general employment attorney, you will act as counsel for the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) on highly sensitive employment law matters. You will independently handle or assist in handling complex legal work and sensitive issues arising from the administration and enforcement of programs administered by the CDTFA. Overnight travel, both in and out of state, may be required up to twenty percent (20%) of the time.

This recruitment is for multiple vacancies and may be used to fill additional identical vacancies within 180 days of the closing date.

Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for partial telework for eligible candidates residing in California. All telework/hybrid schedules require staff to report to the office a minimum number of days per week. Schedules are subject to change.

Responsibilities

Attorney III: Under the general direction of the Attorney Supervisor of the Administrative Oversight Team (AOT) Section and Attorney IV leads, you will handle difficult and complex legal work and sensitive issues.

Pay

Attorney III: $10,852.00 - $15,325.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Attorney:

  • $7,969.00 - $10,473.00 (Range A)
  • $8,969.00 - $12,026.00 (Range B)
  • $7,506.00 - $9,439.00 (Range C)
  • $8,448.00 - $10,836.00 (Range D)
