About the role
The County of Monmouth is seeking a full-time Assistant County Counsel, assigned to the Division of Social Services (DSS).
Responsibilities
- Providing legal representation for DSS in Monmouth County Superior Court, Family Division, involving child support matters.
- Appearing before the Child Support Hearing Officers and Family Division judges.
- Implementing the New Jersey Child Support Program by establishing and modifying child support orders in cases where there is an assignment of rights to DSS in active welfare cases per State and Federal law.
- Providing legal advice and representation to the various DSS welfare programs, including Medicaid, Child Support and Housing programs.
- Representing DSS in Administrative Fair Hearings;
- Providing legal representation in Administrative, Civil and Family court matters;
- Providing legal advice and recommendations to the child support unit;
- Conducting legal research.
Requirements
- Education: JD from an accredited law school.
- Licenses: Active valid license to practice law in the State of New Jersey and in good standing.

- Strong communication and legal writing skills.

- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Ability to handle complex legal issues and represent clients effectively in court.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Benefits
- Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 annually.
Pay
- $80,000 - $90,000 annually.
