Attending Physician

HealthDrive is seeking a part-time (2–3 days per week) on-site Attending Physician to handle new admissions and collaborate with Nurse Practitioners caring for skilled-nursing residents in sub-acute rehab and long-term-care units.

About the role

The Attending Physician will promote good health practices, serve as the primary medical staff member for assigned facilities, and participate in administrative and quality initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Attending Physician for skilled-nursing facilities and rehabs.
• Attend and participate in monthly quality-assurance/regulatory meetings and quarterly staff meetings.
• Engage in quality-improvement initiatives, guide facility staff, oversee clinical care plans, ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, and supervise facility clinical staff.
• Collaborate with full-time Nurse Practitioners assigned to each facility to manage daily resident care based on acuity and patient volume.
• Provide high-quality, patient-centered, comprehensive primary care by rounding on patients in SNFs and rehabs.

Requirements

• Valid medical license in the state of practice.
• Valid DEA/Controlled Substance License in the state of practice.
• Completion of a U.S. residency program.
• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with on-site staff.
• Effective communication skills with the geriatric/Medicare population.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with email, the internet, and healthcare-related software.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent movement inside facilities and brisk walking to see patients, meet with managers, and attend to patient needs.
• Ability to document in an EMR system on a laptop computer.
• Ability to ascend and descend stairs within a facility.
• Ability to reach for records, tools, medical equipment, and other items located below the knee or above the shoulder.
• Effective communication in English with patients, nurse practitioners, and facility staff.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
• Perform essential functions of the position satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
