About the role

The incumbent is primarily responsible for the routine maintenance of the floors/carpets in all patient rooms, offices, and public areas within the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Dust mops, wet mops, and vacuums floors.
• Periodically polishes floors using buffing machines according to procedures.
• Strips and refinishes floors and shampoos carpets according to procedures.
• Maintains and stores equipment in a safe/clean condition; ensures that all equipment malfunctions are reported in a timely manner.

• Education/Formal Training Requirements: No Education Required
• Work Experience Requirements: No prior work experience preferred
• Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: Ability to read written instructions and comprehend verbal instructions given in English; Ability to maintain working relationships with co-workers; Ability to set priorities and coordinate multiple tasks.

• Supervision Provided by this Position: No supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this position.

Physical Demands

• Physical Activities: Climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
• Physical Requirements: Heavy work - exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently.
• Visual Acuity: Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribe; view a computer terminal; or extensive reading. Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.).
