ATSU - Service Worker - MO

About the role

A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking a non-exempt, full-time Service Worker in its Environmental Services Department on the Kirksville, Missouri, campus. The position reports to the Environmental Services Supervisor. The service worker will perform diversified cleaning duties throughout campus, generally working alone but occasionally as part of a team to complete projects. Must have a desire and ability for detail cleaning and may be assigned other tasks on an occasional basis.

Schedule

5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., Monday-Friday. Limited overtime as needed for special events and snow removal, which may include some weekend hours.

Responsibilities

• Clean designated interior building areas including dusting/wiping down surfaces, sinks, counter tops, desks, chairs, windows, fixtures, and ledges.
• Clean hard surface and carpet-covered floors.
• Detail clean restrooms.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles.
• Re-stock supply carts, closets, and designated areas.
• Perform high-dusting, edge work around cove base on carpeted and hard surface flooring, window ledges, etc.
• Respond to requests for immediate cleaning needs including spills and trash removal.
• Provide cleaning services to remove excess trash and food after events and meetings.
• Move furniture and wash walls.
• Assist with special event set-ups.
• Perform snow removal.
• Deliver packages from the mailroom to specified locations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in cold and hot environments.
• Ability to move around freely in a building, including navigating stairs and ramps.
• Ability to use hand tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions from supervisors.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative to complete tasks without constant supervision.
• Ability to adapt to changes in work assignments and priorities.
• Ability to identify and solve problems related to cleanliness and safety.
