ATSU - General Maintenance Assistant
Duties & Responsibilities
- Respond to assigned work orders in a timely manner.
- Inspect buildings and identify corrective maintenance needs and ensure equipment is operating correctly.
- Cookordinate with vendors when work is contracted out.
- Troubleshoot general building system issues and problems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Ability to identify and resolve issues independently or with guidance from supervisors.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, students and faculty.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work efficiently.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods, as well as lift and carry heavy objects, is crucial.
- Ability to collaborate with other maintenance staff or contractors.
- Ability to interact professionally with customers or occupants of the building.
- Willingness to adapt to different tasks and work schedules, including weekends or emergencies.
- Adherence to safety procedures and work instructions provided by supervisors or technical manuals.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining equipment is essential.
- Ability to move around freely in a building, including navigating stairs and ramps, is important.
- Ability to use hand tools and equipment safely and effectively.

About the Role
This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled non-licensed work in the maintenance, repair, and restoration of the university's buildings and grounds, including but not limited to, minor carpentry, landscaping, irrigation repairs, painting, plumbing, flooring, and limited heating/air conditioning work. This work will assist in ensuring the safety and general appearance of the campus buildings and surrounding grounds are maintained in accordance with the required standards.
