About the role
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Facility Specialist to work with our Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) organization. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our ATR facility with every Friday off.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safe and efficient facility operations.
- Operate and maintain facilities and/or building installed systems within applicable facilities.
- Review lessons learned and ensure similar conditions/hazards have been identified and mitigated in their respective structures, systems, and components for assigned facilities.
- Explain, promote, and implement building management policies, procedures, and methods related to building service and performance measures in accordance with the established Tenant Use Agreement (TUA) and requirements documents.
- Ensure that safety rules and requirements are maintained throughout the facility and that building-specific procedures are current.
- Interface with facility operations, project integrators and/or project management, crafts, subcontractors, construction management, customers, and tenants to perform work in assigned buildings in a professional manner.
- Ensure facilities are properly maintained and in a ready-to-use status (i.e., lights replaced and clean facility).
- Identify potential improvements and efficiencies and implement changes.
- Work with management to identify and develop goals and actions for continuous improvement.
- Submit, review, screen, and approve Maintenance Work Requests and Work Orders, approve and release work activities for facility systems under their cognizance.
- Work closely with impacted individuals, which may include complex engineers, project liaisons, appropriate Project Managers, facility operations and maintenance managers, and others to understand upcoming construction, program, or project needs.
- Ensure as-built drawings for their facilities are current and redlines have been incorporated. Ensure that all components identified in the drawings are installed and in working order and appropriate PMs have been written and are in the system for issue.
- Observe work activities in their assigned space and act to correct any deficiencies observed (e.g., failure to follow procedures, practices, postings, and permits).
- Department and building liaison for completed project acceptance and turnover. Ensure operational procedures and preventative maintenance justifications are prepared before project closure. Lead technical project planning and reviews. Monitor and report status of projects as required.
- Participate in facility system assessments which include system health, short/long-term planning, and strategic investments.
- Respond to tenant complaints and concerns and provide technical support regarding facility systems and structures. Help tenants maintain operational excellence. Periodically review compliance status with management.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and feedback to workers and other building supervisors. Mentor more junior employees as required.
- Support occurrence reporting, issue identification, and conduct building inspections.
Requirements
- Level 3: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience, an advanced degree and 2 years of experience, or 11 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Level 4: Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree and 6 years of relevant experience, a PhD and 4 years of relevant experience, or 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Relevant experience to include work in industrial maintenance/facilities operation, maintenance, engineering, and prior supervisory experience.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "L" clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
- May be required to reside within a one-hour commute of assigned facilities due to On-Call considerations.
- Maintain a valid State of Idaho driver's license.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a Rad facility/environment.
- Facility Management Professional (FMP) certification.
- International Facility Management Association (IFMA) certification.
- Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI) certification.
Skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "L" clearance.
- Physical requirements: frequent standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, climbing inclined stairways and vertical ladders greater than 6 feet; hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, and reach with hands and arms; operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle; occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.

Pay
The pay range for this position is: Level 3 ($79,344 - $162,732) / Level 4 ( $95,256 - $195,288 ).
