Job Description
To receive, order, prepare, and assay laboratory samples and to perform prompt, accurate, and reliable laboratory procedures on patient specimens as well as to evaluate, interpret, and report test results to the appropriate patient care person. NYS regulations require an unlicensed individual to be employed in order to apply for a NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license. Immediately upon offer of employment the unlicensed individual must apply for a NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license. The incumbent must be fully licensed by NYS within 90 days of beginning in the position.
Education And Credentials
- Must possess a Bachelors degree verified by NYSDOE as meeting Bachelors degree requirements for full licensure of a clinical lab technologist.
- Laboratory Tech Limited Permit required.
- Lab Technologist within 9 months required.
- NYS DOE - Full Clinical Laboratory Technologist License upon hire required OR laboratory technologist limited permit required not necessarily prior to hire, however prior to starting.
- If working with limited permit, must obtain full licensure within 9 months of hire.
- If a hired employee meets the NYS DOE qualifications for a limited or full license, however, the official limited or full license will be delayed at NYS DOE due to processing time, KHL will allow the employee to start training with a non-licensed LIS security that does not allow the reporting of results. No patient specimens will be able to be tested or reported by the trainee until a limited or full Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Technologist) NYS license is granted and verified by the NYS DOE.
