About the role
The Langley Aerosol Research Group (LARGE) is part of the Chemistry and Dynamics Branch of the Science Directorate at NASA's Langley Research Center. We focus on aerosol and cloud measurements, research into atmospheric aerosols, and validation studies of models and remote sensors. Our work involves using a wide array of instruments, including particle counters, size spectrometers, nephelometers, and a photoacoustic spectrometer, to study aerosol and cloud properties. We also collaborate on airborne experiments and large-scale field missions, such as NAAMES and KORUS-AQ.
Responsibilities
- Conducting laboratory tests and calibrations
- Operating instruments in a mobile laboratory, fixed sites, and aboard NASA aircraft
- Participating in airborne and ground-based field campaigns
- Collecting, archiving, and analyzing data
- Reporting findings
Requirements
- Strong background in aerosol/cloud physics
- Experience with instrument development and airborne science
- Eligibility criteria:
- U.S. Citizenship
- U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR)
- Foreign Nationals eligible for an Exchange Visitor J-1 visa status
- Applicants for LPR, asylees, or refugees in the U.S. at the time of application with valid EAD card and pending I-485 or I-589 forms
