Join the #WalkTheDog initiative as part of the sustainable World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26. This event offers a unique opportunity to support local animals while enjoying active recovery or a moment of calm during the championships. Take a dog from the Toruń Animal Shelter for a walk, providing them with relief and relaxation while reducing your own stress.

Who is it for?

  • Athletes: Ideal for active recovery and a break from competition stress.
  • Team Managers & Coaches: A moment of calm in a tight championship schedule.
  • Volunteers & Organizers: An opportunity to support the local community beyond the arena.

Time and place

  • Location: Municipal Park in Bydgoskie Przedmieście and the Toruń Animal Shelter (3 Przybyszewskiego St.).
  • Date: March 18, 2026
  • Time: 9:00–11:30
  • Meeting point: 9:00 AM in front of the main entrance to the Marshal’s Office of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region in Toruń (2 Teatralny Square).
  • Transport: MZK Toruń public transport (tram).

  • Duration: Each dog-walking session lasts approximately 50 minutes, including a guided walk through Bydgoskie Przedmieście and the Municipal Park. Participants will be divided into two groups.

Safety first

  • Briefing: 5-minute on-site training with shelter staff.
  • Smart matching: Dogs paired to volunteers’ temperament and experience.
  • Hygiene: Waste bags and hand sanitizing stations provided.
  • Dress code: Wear the official championship sports outfit (dirt-resistant).

How to sign up

Fill in the form at https://forms.office.com/e/9umYiggNdu. The number of places is limited to 40 participants due to animal welfare considerations.

Participation in the event constitutes consent to the free recording and dissemination of your image in promotional materials related to the initiative and the championships, without time or territorial limitations.

Special memento

During the walk, each participant will have a photo taken with their dog. You will receive an email with a link to download the photos from a cloud folder. These photos will serve as a certificate of your engagement in World Athletics’ social-impact activities.

Event impact

  • Photos taken during the event will be used for a summary exhibition of the #WalkTheDog initiative.
  • Participants may bring dog or cat food to donate or contribute financially via a marked donation box at the shelter.
  • The shelter will also receive reusable materials from the championships, such as banners and obstacle elements.
