Job Description Summary
Evaluates, assesses, and treats musculoskeletal injuries and sports concussions within the Sports Medicine Physician practice, with oversight from and in consultation with a physician. Assists in medical documentation, coordinates patient tests, and acts as a liaison between patients and medical teams.
Responsibilities And Duties
- Obtains and records patient histories, performs physical exams, and orders diagnostic tests under physician supervision.
- Performs neurocognitive, BESS, and SCAT testing for concussion patients.
- Applies casts, braces, and performs dressing changes under physician supervision.
- Documents vital signs, completes medical documentation, and assists with administrative paperwork.
- Provides on-site home exercise instruction, splint/bracing instructions, and crutch training.
- Communicates with patients, schedules appointments, and follows up with them post-discharge.
- Maintains patient records, compiles statistics, and prepares reports for review.
- Attends meetings and participates in committees as requested.
- Mentors and develops students in athletic training and healthcare fields.
- Participates as an Approved Clinical Instructor for college/university athletic training programs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- ATC - Athletic Trainer Credential
- LIC - Licensed in Field - State of Ohio
Specialized Knowledge
- Competent in computers (Microsoft Office, electronic medical records)
- Willingness to travel and work at various locations
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with various stakeholders
- Independent, proactive, and flexible to meet changing environments and demands
- Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and hazardous conditions
- Willingness to acquire additional certifications to enhance patient care
