Athletic Trainer - Sports Medicine Outreach (F/T Varying Schedule)

About the Role

Provide services in regards to prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care and rehabilitation for all active individuals and sports-related injuries. The overall goal is to maximize safe return to activity. The individual will also demonstrate professional development and responsibility within the field of athletic training and perform related duties as assigned. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.

Responsibilities

• Prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries
• Maximize safe return to activity for all active individuals
• Demonstrate professional development and responsibility within athletic training
• Assess patient data and interpret information to identify age-specific needs
• Provide care tailored to patient requirements
• Adapt to clinical and/or outreach athletic training settings, including occasional odd hours, weekends, and travel

Requirements

• Graduate of an athletic training program from an accredited college or university
• State licensure or eligibility for Athletic Trainer in the state of practice
• Certification through the Board of Certification, Inc.
• Professional Rescuer CPR certification or its equivalent
• Ability to perform patient care and assess data reflective of patient status
• Adaptability to work occasional odd hours, weekends, and travel

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in athletic training or a related field
• Some experience in athletic training (preferred but not required)
• National Athletic Trainers Association certification as an athletic trainer

Working Conditions

• Clinical and/or outreach athletic training settings
• Use of therapeutic modalities, thermal and electric modalities, computers, dictaphones, cellular phones, and therapeutic equipment
