Provide services in regards to prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care and rehabilitation for all active individuals and sports related injuries. The overall goal is to maximize safe return to activity. The individual will also demonstrate professional development and responsibility within the field of athletic training. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Responsibilities
- Prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries for active individuals.
- Maximize safe return to activity for patients.
- Demonstrate professional development and responsibility within the field of athletic training.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret appropriate information to identify patient needs relative to age-specific requirements.
- Provide care in clinical and/or outreach athletic training settings, including occasional odd hours, weekends, and travel.
Requirements
- Graduate of an athletic training program from an accredited college or university.
- State of practice licensure or eligibility for Athletic Trainer is required.
- Certification through the Board of Certification, Inc.
- Professional Rescuer CPR or its equivalent.
- Ability to perform patient care and adapt to various clinical settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in athletic training or a related field.
- Some experience in athletic training (preferred but not required).
- National Athletic Trainers Association certification as an athletic trainer.
Skills
- Trained and capable of performing patient care.
- Ability to assess and interpret patient data.
- Adaptability to work in various settings, including occasional odd hours, weekends, and travel.
