Job Summary
UK HealthCare Sports Medicine is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Athletic Trainer. Your primary focus will be the daily medical coverage, injury prevention, assessment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play planning for athletes within the university’s athletics system. You’ll act as a liaison between players, coaches, and healthcare professionals to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of athletes.
Additional Duties
- Managing medical documentation and injury tracking.
- Cooking with UK HealthCare’s physicians and rehabilitation specialists for athlete referrals.
- Aiding in emergency planning and response protocols at training and match facilities.
- Promoting education and awareness regarding injury prevention and performance optimization.
- Supporting event coverage and medical operations for events and teams as needed.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
- Strong understanding of sports injury prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with athletes, coaches, and families.

- Proficient in EMR documentation and basic administrative tasks.
- Commitment to continuing education and evidence-based clinical practice.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training required; Master's degree preferred.
- National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATA BOC) required.
- Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure (KBML) licensure or eligibility at time of hire.
- Experience working with collegiate athletes.
- Prior outreach/field-based AT experience preferred.
