About the role

An Athletic Trainer is required to be flexible with daily scheduling and will work solely off-site for sporting event coverage. The athletic trainer is supervised by the office manager and/or the physician(s). The primary responsibilities include educating the public on injury prevention, rehabilitation, wellness, and other health-related issues while maintaining the highest standards of care and integrity. The primary work locations include school or university treatment headquarters, practice, or game sites.

The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development throughout the life span, assess customers' needs and status by analyzing evaluated data, and interpret information to identify age-specific needs and provide appropriate care accordingly per patient care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusting, collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team to support patient care needs.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Participate in care team meetings and provide feedback to team members, volunteers, and students.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform prevention, assessment, treatment (including first aid), and reconditioning of athletic injuries as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC).
  • Demonstrate consistent fiscal accountability by providing recommendations and participating in supply utilization changes that support cost containment.
  • Participate in new equipment/product evaluations; identify and recommend solutions for cost savings and waste reduction.
  • Promote a healthy community through educational offerings, pre-season physicals, screenings, health fairs, and other health promotion opportunities.
  • Design and implement prevention programs and provide appropriate injury recognition, evaluation, and immediate care.
  • Participate in rehabilitation and reconditioning of injuries and complete appropriate documentation and follow-up communication in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate reliability and persistence in following through with assignments on schedule.
  • Work closely with other members of the sports medicine team to determine opportunities for increasing referrals, capturing additional customers, and growing the sports medicine program.
  • Maintain a level of skill and expertise consistent with the latest theory and techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education, Athletic Training, or related field (Required).
  • Master’s Degree in Health Education (Preferred).
  • 1 year of athletic training experience (Preferred).

Qualifications

  • Athletic Trainer (ATC) certification from the Board of Certification, Inc. (BOC) with a Virginia license and BOC certification in good standing (Required).
  • CPR/BLS Certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute (Required).

Pay

$34.00 - $35.00/Hourly
