About the Role
Provide services in regards to prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care and rehabilitation for all active individuals and sports-related injuries. The overall goal is to maximize safe return to activity. The individual will also demonstrate professional development and responsibility within the field of athletic training and perform related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.
- Provide care needed for prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries.
- Perform duties in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.
Requirements
- Graduate of an athletic training program from an accredited college or university.
- State of practice licensure or eligibility for Athletic Trainer licensure.
- Certification through the Board of Certification, Inc.
- Professional Rescuer CPR or its equivalent.
- Ability to work in clinical and/or outreach athletic training settings.
- Adaptability to occasional odd hours, weekend work, and travel throughout the year.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in athletic training or a related field.
- Some experience in athletic training (preferred but not required).
- National Athletic Trainers Association certification as an athletic trainer.
Skills
- Patient care and assessment.
- Use of therapeutic modalities, thermal and electric modalities, computers, dictaphones, cellular phones, and therapeutic equipment.
