About the role
The Athletic Trainer role provides athletic training and clinical support services in sports medicine and orthopedic practice, functioning as a liaison between providers and local athletes at collegiate and high school youth programs. If the Athletic Trainer has obtained the Orthopedic Technologist Certification (OTC), they will also provide surgical assisting duties as directed by the orthopedic surgeon.
Responsibilities
- Provide athletic training and clinical support services in sports medicine and orthopedic practice
- Function as a liaison between providers and local athletes at collegiate and high school youth programs
- Work closely with the Physical Therapy department
- If the Athletic Trainer has obtained the Orthopedic Technologist Certification (OTC), provide surgical assisting duties as directed by the orthopedic surgeon
Requirements
- Current applicable state(s) temporary/permanent license as an Athletic Trainer required or in compliance with the state practice act
- Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date
- BOC certification
- NBCOT certification (eligible or application in process)
- Casting certification required or needs to obtain within six months of start date
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training required (graduation from CAATE accredited program)
- Master’s degree preferred
