Athletic Trainer Certified I - Ortho

Job Summary

Under general supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, in compliance with legal aspects of patient care activities and guidelines that impact practice, the Athletic Trainer Certified I - Ortho develops and administers established treatment plans for physical therapy patients. In collaboration with the Physical Therapist, they develop exercise programs including therapeutic pool programs and sports injury therapy programs, and assess patient progress through the program. The Athletic Trainer will perform the following functions: prevention, assessment, treatment and reconditioning and rehabilitation of injuries as set forth by the NATA Certification (BOC).

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited Athletic Trainer Certified Program, with current NATA Board of Certification Inc. certification.
• License to practice as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Michigan as of 1/1/11.
• One year of experience in a clinical setting preferred. Entry-level graduates with BOC certification will be considered.

DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan is one of the nation’s largest hospitals specializing in rehabilitation medicine and research. RIM is known for its clinical expertise in spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, amputee, orthopedics and catastrophic injury care. The Institute houses the Center for Spinal Cord Injury Recovery and the Southeastern Michigan Traumatic Brain Injury System (SEMTBIS), one of only 16 federally designated model systems of care for brain injury care and research. RIM also operates 31 outpatient sites throughout southeast Michigan specializing in sports medicine and orthopedics.
