About the role

The Athletic Trainer (AT) provides athletic training services to athletes and sports teams under contract with Beloit Memorial Hospital. Services are provided in compliance with federal, state, professional organization standards, and scope of practice. Athletic training, including concussion testing and treatment, is provided to athletes which may include middle school, high school, and collegiate age groups.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and assesses athletes, develops a plan of care, provides necessary treatment, or refers appropriately based on medical needs and severity, and documents accordingly.
  • Implements appropriate client interventions and obtains accurate and relevant data/documentation related to the interventions provided.
  • Provides treatment interventions to patients that are safe, timely, effective, efficient, patient-centered, and equitable, in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Orders, maintains, and inventories supplies at contracted schools.
  • Provides supervision of Industrial Rehabilitation clients/Pulmonary patients and conducts pre-employment/post-offer screens as directed by the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department.
  • Performs necessary functions to prepare, maintain, and clean up the work area to ensure cleanliness and safety.
  • Ensures documentation is in accordance with professional, regulatory, and institutional guidelines.
  • Interacts respectfully with a wide variety of internal and external constituents, including team members, staff, physicians, clients, families, teachers, athletic directors, coaches, and companies.
  • Provides coverage to other Physical Medicine locations and settings as necessary based on patient care or departmental needs.

Requirements

  • Graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or higher degree equivalent.
  • Board of Certification (BOC).
  • Obtain CPR and AED Certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Current license in the State of Wisconsin as an Athletic Trainer.
  • Ability to problem solve and familiarity with a variety of equipment, including computer software.
  • Strong organization, time management, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with employees, patients, athletes, school staff, and family members.
  • Facilitation and management of pre/post-concussion testing.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple demands.

Reporting relationship: Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Clinical Coordinator.
