Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the administration of all aspects of injury/illness prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, treatment, rehabilitation, and health care education and counseling for student athletes.
  • Primary responsibility for a primary sport(s) assignment, with additional responsibilities for all sports in a collaborative team approach.
  • Documenting and maintaining accurate injury records.
  • Organizing rehabilitation and injury prevention programs.
  • Collaboration and cooperation with strength and conditioning staff.
  • Coordination and oversight of all necessary medical referrals.
  • Collaboration with team physicians, physical therapists, and other allied health-care professional providers.
  • Direct communication with coaches, parents, student-athletes, athletic administration, and other stakeholders when appropriate.
  • Athletic Training Room coverage, including being present during scheduled open hours to see walk-in athletes.
  • Performing other duties and administrative tasks as assigned and commensurate with the normal activities related to athletic training service.
  • Promoting and supporting the strategic plan of the School Athletics and the Emory vision of Sports Medicine Outreach.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Unrestricted Athletic Trainer (ATC) licensure to practice in Georgia.
  • BOCAT Certification required.
  • 1-2 years of related experience preferred; newly licensed professionals encouraged to apply.

About the role

The Emory Sports Medicine Outreach Athletic Trainer assists with coordination and delivery of high-quality sports medicine services to all student-athletes. Responsibilities include injury/illness prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, treatment, rehabilitation, and health care education and counseling. This position requires a primary sport(s) assignment and collaboration with strength and conditioning staff, team physicians, physical therapists, and other allied health-care providers. Duties also include documentation, organization of rehabilitation and injury prevention programs, direct communication with stakeholders, and Athletic Training Room coverage.
