About the role
Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking a candidate to fill the role of Athletic Performance Coach, Baseball and Men's and Women's Golf.
Responsibilities
- Plans, evaluates, and implements the strength training and conditioning programs for intercollegiate athletics, team and club sports, and the University community.
- Selects and monitors athletic equipment.
- Serves as an educational resource for classes, camps and clinics.
- Aids in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes.
- Acquires and maintains relevant professional certifications.
- Follows NCAA and conference policies.
- Collaborates with athletic trainers, sports medicine, and coaching staff with regards to planning and developing training sessions.
- Adheres to existing University and external regulatory agency safety policies and procedures.
- Supervises the development of facility safety procedures.
- Evaluates and oversees a comprehensive strength and conditioning program including movement quality, injury prevention, strength and fitness evaluation, performance enhancement, and recreation.
- Customizes programs based on specific sport or athlete needs to improve and enhance performance.
- Collaborates with coaching staff to plan and develop training sessions.
- Ensures safe and appropriate use of training environments, equipment, or modalities within established guidelines.
- Addresses any issues with equipment including but not limited to upgrades, replacement and/or repair.
- Supervises the research and purchasing of new equipment.
- Hires, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates assigned full and part-time staff, technical service employees and/or student staff.
- Develops employee manuals and oversees the implementation of training programs and/or internships as appropriate.
- Applies knowledge of evidence-based training techniques and methods, maintains knowledge of emerging research in the field.
- Serves as an expert and education resource for matters related to strength training and conditioning/athletic training to personnel internal or external to the University, at on-campus and off-campus venues, and for correspondence to the University.
- Arranges for class space or teaches a class.
- Affords assistance in the on-campus recruitment of prospective student-athletes in accordance with NCAA rules.
- Contributes to the development of an environment for student-athletes that is healthy, safe, equitable, and inclusive.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1+ years of relevant experience
Qualifications
- Required Certifications: Strength and Conditioning Coach Certification - Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association; National Strength and Conditioning Association
Skills
- Knowledge of evidence-based training techniques and methods

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $54,060.00 - $78,444.00. Salary Structure - Information on Penn State's salary structure.
