About the role
The Dalton School, a progressive K-12 gender-inclusive school in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, is consistently recognized as one of the preeminent independent day schools in the nation. Known for its child-centered approach and an exceptional, inspiring faculty, Dalton enrolls over 1,300 students with approximately 350 faculty and staff. Guided by the Dalton Plan, our faculty meets each student’s evolving needs, interests, and abilities. Dalton challenges each student to develop intellectual independence, creativity, curiosity, and a sense of responsibility toward others both within the School and in the broader community.
We are seeking enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced coaches to join our Athletics Program for the Fall 2026 season. Coaching opportunities may be available across our Middle School and High School teams (grades 7-12) and at a variety of competitive levels. The season runs from August through the end of October.
We are looking for coaches who are passionate about working with student-athletes, building positive team culture, and supporting skill development, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
Responsibilities
- Work with student-athletes to develop skills and foster sportsmanship
- Build and maintain a positive team culture
- Support personal growth and development of athletes
Fall Sports
- Football
- Soccer
- Tennis
- Cross Country
- Volleyball
Qualifications
- Previous coaching and/or competitive playing experience preferred
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Availability approximately 2:30 PM-6:30 PM on weekdays, depending on team schedule
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications preferred, or willingness to obtain certification prior to the season
Pay
Salary Range: $2,500 - $7,000 per season.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without needing sponsorship.
