Athens - CNC Manufacturing Supervisor (Night Shift)

Supervisors oversee production in one or more assigned departments, directing and coordinating manufacturing employees while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental programs, and company policies. They manage staff selection, performance, and training to maintain smooth, efficient operations that meet quality and scheduling requirements. Supervisors may also perform direct labor tasks within their assigned departments.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures; hold team accountable to same. Proactively identify job hazards and collaborate with EHS Manager, maintenance personnel, and others to minimize risks and ensure employee safety.
• Communicate professionally to convey instructions, demonstrate procedures, and manage employee performance and behavior.
• Set an example for integrity, communication, and compliance by following policies, communicating professionally, and providing timely responses to internal customers.
• Comply with manufacturing processes, quality standards, and leader instructions; accept responsibility for actions and work product. Convey clear directions to employees and hold team accountable.
• Train new employees and mentor skill development during the introductory period; ensure initial and periodic re-training for team members is completed.
• Attend production meetings and collaborate with internal stakeholders on production scheduling and quality issues.
• Record information in ERP system and update metrics as required; communicate regularly via phone, email, and in-person with employees at all levels.
• Verify equipment operates correctly and safely; perform basic troubleshooting, maintenance, or submit work orders as appropriate.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe work area.
• Use tape measures, micrometers, calipers, and other gauges to accurately interpret part measurements and visually inspect parts.
• Drive motor vehicle as required.
• Interview applicants and select qualified personnel for available roles; comply with regulations and internal processes for recruiting, selection, and recordkeeping.
• Regular on-site attendance at the workplace is required.
• Operate machines/equipment as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Vocational training in a manufacturing/technical field or a Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field is advantageous but not required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, including direct labor work similar to that completed by the assigned department(s).
• Industry and technical knowledge representative of the work performed by assigned department(s).
• Comprehension of the AS9100 Quality System is required.
• Supervisory experience is required; "lead" experience and advanced supervisory training may be considered in lieu of direct supervision experience.

Skills

• Knowledge and experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement programs is preferred.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills (English).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• ERP experience is required; Infor Visual experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities to handle unexpected challenges.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, securing employee and company records, and demonstrating integrity in communications and actions.
• Self-management skills including efficiency, sense of urgency, adaptability, and ability to juggle multiple projects and meet concurrent deadlines.
• A valid Driver's license and acceptable driving record (MVR) is required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, including standing for long periods to perform job duties.
• Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally climb steps, stairs, or ladders.
• Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel.
• Accurately distinguish colors to respond to sensors, indicators, and color-variable dashboards.
• Visual acuity to interpret readings on gauges and other measuring devices.
• Use hands and fingers to operate hand tools, computers, peripheral equipment, precision measuring instruments, and material-handling controls.
• Operate motor vehicle as required.

Work is performed in a manufacturing shop environment with varying conditions, including:

• Moderate noise (constantly); excessive noise (occasionally to frequently), hearing protection required.
• Dust, smoke, fumes/vapors (occasionally).
• Extreme temperatures (occasionally).
• Hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other machine shop equipment.

The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and safety footwear is required.
