ATC Command Center - Air Traffic Control Instructor-II

About the role

SAIC is seeking an experienced, full‑time Air Traffic Control Instructor to join the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the FAA ATC System Command Center in Warrenton, VA. The instructor will support FAA air traffic controller training services by delivering high‑quality classroom and simulation training, mentoring students, and contributing to curriculum design and development.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the highest quality classroom and/or simulation laboratory training to a wide range of students, including Certified Professional Controllers (CPC), Traffic Management Coordinators (TMC), Operational Supervisors (OS), and Supervisory Traffic Management Coordinators (STMC).
• Mentor students and provide guidance on training material and performance.
• Participate in curriculum design and development for ATC training programs.
• Interface effectively with FAA personnel at all levels to ensure training services meet local facility needs and support the FAA’s overall Air Traffic Control mission.
• Demonstrate excellent teaching/platform skills, classroom management techniques, and a student‑focused drive for continuous improvement.
• Maintain strong technical skills with current ATC automation, simulation systems, and procedures.
• Obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Minimum of five (5) years of FAA Certified Professional Controller (CPC) experience controlling live traffic, or recent experience as a contract instructor at an FAA facility.
• Experience must have been at a level 10 FAA facility or greater.
• Direct experience working as a Traffic Management Coordinator or STMC in a Traffic Management Unit (TMU) within an En Route air traffic control facility.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

• Strong technical skills with current ATC automation, simulation systems, and procedures.

Pay

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000.

Schedule

Full‑Time, Day shift.
