About the Role

The Assured Software and Information Division (ASID) Cybersecurity, Information Protection, and Hardware Evaluation Research Laboratory (CIPHER) is seeking a Graduate Research Assistant for Fall 2026 with an interest in cybersecurity. ASID’s core research areas are software assurance, ML/AI algorithm security, and quantitative methods. Students in ASID may work on the following as applied to diverse cyber problems:

  • Data science
  • Foundations and applications of AI/ML
  • Information theory
  • Machine learning experimentation
  • Malware analysis
  • Natural language processing
  • Programming language and compiler theory
  • Quantitative reasoning
  • Reinforcement learning
  • Software analysis (including static analysis, dynamic analysis, symbolic execution, and abstract interpretation)
  • Software development for machine learning
  • Software reverse engineering

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate Research Assistant pursuing a Master’s degree or PhD at Georgia Tech in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
  • 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours) during working semesters
  • Commit to 12-20 hours of work per week

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in cybersecurity
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with a Machine Learning package such as Tensorflow, Keras, Sklearn, or Pytorch
  • Experience with software reverse engineering tools like Ghidra or IDA Pro
  • Experience with software analysis tools/libraries

Hours per Week

12–20 hours per week
