Assurance Senior
Job Summary
The Assurance Senior will coordinate "in-charge" duties such as planning, fieldwork, and wrap-up, including preparing financial statements with disclosures, applying GAAP, and documenting, validating, testing, and assessing internal control systems. This role also involves acting as the client contact for basic questions and information, and may involve reviews and agreed-upon procedure engagements.
Job Duties
Control Environment: Applies knowledge and understanding of internal controls, documents, validates, and assesses them, and suggests improvements.
Gaap: Applies financial statement disclosure requirements, drafts complex financial statements, recognizes and applies new pronouncements, and discusses alternative accounting principles with superiors.
SEC and PCAOB: Ensures accuracy and completeness of SEC filings, prepares required communications, and reads and reviews clients' SEC filings.
GAAS: Formulates and communicates the audit plan, applies GAAS to complex issues, employs audit skepticism, and documents deviations from BDO policy.
Methodology: Coordinates the audit plan, utilizes internal and external research tools, and documents and organizes complex findings.
Research: Utilizes research tools to seek and maintain information, draws conclusions, and documents findings.
Other duties as required: Provides performance feedback, supervises work assignments, and assists the engagement manager with gathering information about the business and information system.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two (2) or more years of relevant audit experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience.
CPA certification, preferred.
Experience with assurance applications and research tools, preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to adapt style, and strong analytical and diagnostic skills.
Superior project management skills.
