Duties And Responsibilities

  • Aid in creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintaining good customer relationships.
  • Be knowledgeable about and ensure compliance with accounting, employee, and store policies.
  • Aid the manager in achieving sales, production, and expense budget goals while maintaining profitability.
  • Ensure all products are moved from the backroom and displayed on the sales floor.
  • Receive applications and participate in interviewing applicants as needed.
  • Assist in training, directing, and supervising new and existing personnel, including retraining as necessary.
  • Assist in evaluating store personnel, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Schedule sales associates and unpaid staff to ensure full coverage in the store at all times, including assigning breaks, vacations, etc.
  • In the absence of the manager, post weekly work schedules for all store personnel.
  • Complete payroll information biweekly for all store personnel, noting signatures, absenteeism, overtime, etc., and submit to the finance department.
  • In the absence of the manager, attend manager meetings and inform store personnel of new policies and directives.
  • Maintain safety measures consistent with The Salvation Army policy and government regulations, reporting any hazards, property damage, or personal injuries.
  • Support the work therapy program by demonstrating professional conduct and work habits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or Administrator.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in sales.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret simple income and expense reports.
  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable DMV record.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate a team.
