Asst Professor-MA/MS

About the role

The Assistant Professor's responsibility encompasses education, research, and/or service. This role provides academic and whole-student support through coaching, mentoring, and remediation for individual students and small groups, assisting students in identifying and implementing effective strategies, tools, and resources to promote academic success and personal development.

The Assistant Professor collaborates with departmental and School of Nursing faculty to enhance student learning outcomes and contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of academic and whole-student success initiatives. This position fosters an inclusive, supportive learning environment that promotes student retention, academic achievement, professional growth, and overall student success. Performs other duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate loyalty to the mission, policies, standards, and regulations of the department, school, and University.
• Follow administrative policies set by the University and the individual school.
• Provide academic and whole-student support through coaching, mentoring, and remediation.
• Collaborate with faculty to enhance student learning outcomes.
• Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of academic and student success initiatives.
• Foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

Requirements

• Master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
• Two years post-masters teaching experience or closely related professional experience.

Skills

• Knowledge of current technology and educational media used in teaching and presentations.
• Ability to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, positive manner.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English with professional quality.
• Experience using computer, printer, and software programs necessary for the position, including Canvas and Banner.
• Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and think critically.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, organize and prioritize workload.
• Ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.
• Ability to work calmly and respond courteously under pressure.
• Ability to distinguish colors, hear sufficiently for general conversation, and see adequately to read computer screens and documents.

Licensures and Certifications

• Professional certification, licensure, or registration as appropriate.
