About the Role

Johnson C. Smith University invites dynamic and dedicated applicants for a 10-month, non-tenure track, in-person Assistant Professor of Chemistry position in the Department of Natural and Behavioral Sciences, beginning August 2026. Responsibilities

• Teach physical chemistry, general chemistry, analytical chemistry & instrumental analysis, along with introductory chemistry courses and non-majors science courses.
• Teach other STEM courses (desirable).
• Engage in research, professional activity, and service to both the University and community.
• Involve students in research activities (highly desirable).
• Evaluate and use current technology in courses.
• Maintain a positive educational relationship with students and colleagues.
• Provide academic advising and curriculum development.
• Serve on committees and perform other duties required to meet organizational needs.

• Exceptional teacher and advisor with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Clear understanding of the curriculum and commitment to engaging in meaningful scholarship, publications, and research within the discipline.
• Ability to contribute to the academic growth of both majors and non-majors.

About the Department

The successful candidate will report to the Chair of the Department of Natural and Behavioral Sciences and will play an integral role in advancing the University’s mission through high-quality instruction, academic support, and ongoing professional development.
