About the role

The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) provides clinical and administrative leadership at the unit level and coordinates patient care at the hospital-wide level. They are responsible for shift or program-specific operations, including cost control, personnel management, quality improvement, direct and indirect patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.
  • Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
  • Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Provides and documents patient care under the direction and supervision of a Nurse Manager.
  • Assists in staff supervision and management for the Nursing Office.
  • Supports the department Manager in accomplishing program goals and outcomes and sustaining a state of continual regulatory readiness.
  • Provides mentoring, teaching, and support to staff.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required within 5 years of hire. Completion of a nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of clinical RN experience preferred. Prior demonstrated nursing leadership preferred.
  • Licensure: Current RN licensure in applicable state required. Unit/Dept. specific required certifications.

Additional Skills/Requirements

  • Ability to perform basic nursing skills on groups of patients and ability to assume charge responsibility.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly.
  • Ability to administer medication utilizing the five rights.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in written form.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to successfully complete Leader Education Training.

Physical Demands

  • Physical Demand Code: Medium to Heavy
  • Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping.
  • Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.

Other

  • May require the use of safety equipment, such as HEPA mask, for infection prevention.
  • On call responsibilities as directed.
  • Ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed.

Pay Range

The base compensation range for this role is $39.63- $64.99 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
