Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care in the acute care setting within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards.
• Assists in directing and supervising all functions and activities in a patient care setting.
• Performs duties in any nursing capacity as needed.
• Assures safety in practice by maintaining awareness of own individual level of knowledge and experience; assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others on the patient care team through communication and utilization of available resources.
• Utilizes the nursing process in all aspects of care, individualizing the plan of care to address specific patient needs.
• Responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate personnel; consistently sets and evaluates performance standards.
• Exercises supervisory authority and independent judgment in assigning employee labor.
• Responsible for knowledge of the patient population served and ensures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
• Assures safety in practice and incorporates principles of evidence-based practice; maintains awareness of own knowledge and experience, advancing knowledge through communication and resource utilization.
• Responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (e.g., damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
• Makes recommendations regarding the ongoing performance evaluation of supervised staff and resulting actions (e.g., reward, discipline, discharge).
• Ensures compliance with all applicable policies, laws, and regulations for the patient care unit.

Requirements

• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• BSN required.
• Previous experience in acute care strongly preferred.

Pay

$112,500.00 - $146,340.00 per year. The compensation offered will depend on the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.
