As a Deli Department Manager, you will oversee daily deli operations, drive sales, and ensure high standards for food safety, merchandising, and service. This role offers a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment where your team-building skills and attention to detail directly impact customer satisfaction and department success.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the Deli Department with a strong focus on customer service, food quality, and department readiness
- Create a fast, friendly, customer‑first environment and resolve customer questions, concerns, and special requests
- Execute merchandising plans, planograms, promotional sets, and seasonal programs
- Oversee preparation, slicing, cooking, packaging, and merchandising of deli items following company recipes and standards
- Maintain full, fresh, and visually appealing service case, grab‑and‑go, and hot case displays
- Manage ordering, inventory, shrink, production logs, and waste reporting
- Build and manage schedules aligned with sales volume and labor targets
- Hire, train, coach, and develop deli associates while promoting teamwork and accountability
- Ensure strict compliance with food safety, sanitation, temperature controls, and regulatory requirements
Requirements

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Deli production, food handling, and merchandising execution
- Labor planning, scheduling, and performance management
- Inventory management, ordering, and shrink control
- Food safety, sanitation, and compliance oversight
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and equipment operation
- Deli preparation techniques and merchandising standards
- Store systems, ordering platforms, and basic computer applications
Skills
The ideal candidate will have the ability to:
- Review sales, labor, and shrink data to support planning and prioritization
- Train, coach, and develop associates
- Lift up to 50 lbs. and work in hot and cold temperature environments
- Safely operate slicers, ovens, knives, scales, and cleaning tools
