About the role
We are an academic surgery program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, training the next generation of confident, independent surgeons. Our program emphasizes early autonomy in diagnosis, clinical decision-making, perioperative care, and operating room experience. This faculty position includes leadership roles at UMC Health System Children’s Hospital, with potential to serve as Director of Pediatric Surgery.
Responsibilities
- Provide pediatric surgical and trauma call coverage at University Medical Center Children’s Hospital (10 shifts per month, inclusive of 24-hour call).
- Provide up to 6 days of clinic coverage, including follow-up care, surgical consults, and outreach clinics.
- Participate in quality improvement activities as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Educate and mentor surgical residents and medical students.
- Engage in research and scholarly activities to advance the field of pediatric surgery.
Requirements
- MD/DO or equivalent.
- Completion of USMLE Step 3.
- ABMS Board Certified in Surgery.
- Board Eligible in Pediatric Surgery.
Preferred Qualifications
- ABMS Board Certified in Pediatric Surgery.
- 3+ years of experience in Pediatric Surgery.
