Associate Wireless Software Engineer

About the role

Flock is a technology company dedicated to reducing crime and protecting privacy. We partner with various entities to deploy our autonomous fleet solutions, which include DFR (Drone as First Responder) systems. Our technology supports over 1 million criminal investigations annually and has contributed to solving approximately 20% of reported crimes and locating over 10,000 missing persons.

Responsibilities

• Design, optimize, and maintain the critical data paths for our DFR solutions to stream real-time, high-definition video and telemetry across complex environments.
• Work directly with senior engineers and mentors to contribute to our Wi-Fi and cellular stack, integrating radio hardware into our drone systems.
• Write software across the Linux user space and driver layer.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and refine cutting-edge autonomous solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Solid foundational proficiency in C, C++, and Python.
• Familiarity with Linux environments and basic software development tools (Git, debugging, unit testing).
• Demonstrated interest or academic exposure to wireless communications, networking, or embedded hardware (via coursework, research lab experience, student design teams, or personal projects).
• Effective communication skills and a strong desire to learn, collaborate, and grow within a fast-paced engineering team.

Skills

• Hands-on lab or project experience with wireless standards (802.11 / Wi-Fi, 3GPP / 5G, or C-V2X) is a plus.
• Experience with microcontrollers, Software-Defined Radios (SDR), or single-board computers (ESP32, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, USRP) is a plus.
• Exposure to low-level Linux programming (sockets, user-space drivers, or networking stacks) is a plus.
• Involvement in hands-on student design projects or robotics teams (e.g., RoboJackets, Formula SAE, Drone/UAV teams, or university research labs) is a plus.
• A basic understanding of databases or data logging tools (SQL, Python data tools, Databricks, etc.) is a plus.

Pay

The starting salary range for this role is $100,000 - $150,000, along with Flock Stock Options.

Schedule

This position requires a hybrid-remote work schedule based out of our Atlanta, GA engineering center. Candidates must be local to Atlanta to be considered.
