Associate Vice President Oncology Service Line

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Medical Director and nurse leadership to develop and implement the service line strategy and annual priorities and targets.
  • Maintain and monitor the service line performance scorecard; develop business plans and analyses for service line initiatives in collaboration with Strategy & Planning and Finance.
  • Represent the service line in budget development and capital planning; complete analyses and develop budget inputs.
  • Identify market and programmatic growth opportunities in collaboration with physician leadership, hospital leadership, other service lines, and system services.
  • Develop market research, analyses, and business plans with Strategy, Marketing, and Finance; execute growth plans and market communications, including negotiation of growth transactions.
  • Participate in community relations and screening and early-detection outreach in partnership with care delivery sites and community partners.
  • Manage service line operations system-wide in collaboration with site leadership: resource plans, cost management across all sites of care, and administrative policies, procedures, and staffing standards.
  • Design staffing mix, hours of operation, space allocation, and patient scheduling and access processes for service line care sites; partner with Patient Accounting on insurance verification and registration.
  • Negotiate and execute purchased-service contracts in collaboration with supply chain; evaluate the need for and engage external consultants.
  • Maintain responsibility for Joint Commission readiness and for Commission on Cancer and NAPBC accreditation, in partnership with Oncology service line physician and nurse leaders.
  • Support tumor boards and cancer conferences and grow community access to clinical trials.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare strategy, operations, or service line management.
  • Experience in oncology services or complex clinical service lines preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial planning, market analysis, and business development.
  • Proven ability to lead in a matrixed, physician-integrated environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Constant (67-100% of workday) sitting and use of arms and hands;
  • Occasional (0-33% of workday) standing, walking, bending, squatting;
  • Able to lift, push, and pull up to 10 lbs.

  • Possesses critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.

Environmental Requirements and Exposure Hazards

  • Potential risk of exposure to chemicals.
