About the Role

Provides leadership, strategy, and oversight for Atrium Health Foundation development team and activity across all service lines aligned with organizational vision and revenue targets. Designs, implements, and oversees a bold, forward-thinking, comprehensive development program centered on individual and grateful patient relationships, and local, regional, and national foundation grants and corporate philanthropy. Executes and champions industry-leading metrics and analytics to align programs for long-term success. Leads the planning, development, and successful execution of the $500M Giving Hope Campaign, and oversees ambassador boards across service lines. Mentors and develops growth opportunities for development staff while fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, leads, and grows a comprehensive grateful patient program across Atrium Health, focusing on partnerships and trust with clinical and administrative leaders.
  • Identifies meaningful philanthropic needs, develops fundraising strategies, and manages a prospect and donor pipeline for key service lines (Levine Cancer, Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute, Neurosciences, Levine Children’s, Behavioral Health, Carolinas Rehabilitation, etc.), campaign priorities, and special fundraising initiatives.
  • Oversees Atrium Health Foundation grants and contracts development activities.
  • Works with Foundation and campaign volunteer leadership on the overall direction, strategy, volunteer management, planning, and execution of the $500M Giving Hope Campaign.
  • Leads development team on action plans, goals, and tactics for campaign priorities (capital, research & innovation, education, and social impact) and donor interests.
  • Partners with prospect development team to create, benchmark, and champion industry-leading prospect and donor management activity, targets, and development metrics and analytics (as tracked in CRM).
  • Collaborates with strategic relations and donor relations teams to ensure timely and appropriate communication, moves management, recognition, and strategic opportunities to grow long-term relationships with top donors, prospects, and volunteers.
  • Participates in budgeting processes, assessing needs, and aligning resources with mission priorities.
  • Provides leadership and strategic vision for the management, growth, and stewardship of volunteer leadership/ambassador boards across service lines (e.g., LCH Board of Ambassadors, SHVI Board of Ambassadors, Levine Cancer Ambassador Board, Women’s Care Board of Ambassadors, Behavioral Health Board of Ambassadors, Professional Advisory Council, Levine Children’s Cancer Champions).
  • Serves as a thought partner with the Foundation President to implement strategic and long-term plans for all development activity (individual giving, corporate and foundation relationships, planned giving, annual programs), fundraising, and Foundation goals.
  • Drafts and reviews high-level gift proposals and customized donor strategies.
  • Builds, expands, and champions a culture of philanthropy across Atrium Health to promote strong grateful patient and clinical partnerships, emphasizing a high-quality individual giving program.
  • Mentors and assists teammates on selected fund development and advancement opportunities and activities.
  • Designs and directs the work of assigned areas, selecting, coaching, and developing teams to align objectives with organizational strategy.
  • Manages organizational talent through performance management, succession planning, and development.
  • Designs and directs processes to improve team and individual performance through recognition, feedback, and systematic improvement.
  • Develops and/or recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
  • Ensures compliance with the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and relevant policies, regulations, and laws.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least 10 years of fund development and 5 years of leadership experience with a proven track record of securing large, transformative gifts and building donor portfolios.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate-level degree or CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) preferred.
  • Healthcare experience strongly preferred.

Pay

Pay range: $68.20 - $102.30 per hour.
