Associate Vice President, Corporate Accounting
Job Description
Ares is seeking an experienced Associate Vice President to join the Corporate Accounting team. The role involves providing thought leadership, reviewing and supporting the team across various accounting areas, ensuring proper accounting and adherence to a SOX 404 control environment, and helping to continuously improve processes.
- Work closely with CAO, Global Controller, and Assistant Controller in managing the accounting function for a NYSE listed public company.
- Review journal entries, expense allocations, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review expenses to ensure proper accounting.
- Maintain SOX 404 control environment.
- Prepare variance analyses and other ad hoc financial metrics.
- Oversee quarterly updates of G&A expense forecast.
- Analyze data to facilitate business decisions.
- Manage a team of offshore and onshore resources working in various time zones.
- Support external and internal auditors, and internal audit and tax relationships.
- Contribute to various special projects including capital transactions, acquisitions, and process improvements.
- Identify and implement manual processes.
- Support internal reporting requirements and other ad-hoc requests.
- Directly support the Assistant Controller in providing leadership, mentorship, and oversight to the broader team.

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required; advanced degree considered a plus.
- CPA or CA required.
- Experience: 10+ years of relevant professional experience in accounting, both public and private preferred.
- Minimum 5 years in a similar capacity.
- Financial services industry experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle Fusion.
- Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools.
- Experience utilizing AI tools such as Copilot and ChatGPT in day-to-day activities.

Pay and Benefits
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $165,000 - $185,000. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus.
