Overview
We are seeking an experienced Associate Vice President of Accounting to lead accounting operations for a growing, multi-site healthcare organization. This senior leadership role will oversee financial close, general ledger operations, financial reporting, technical accounting, audit, tax compliance, internal controls, and accounting systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting executive who can establish scalable processes while remaining actively involved in day-to-day execution, process improvement, and the financial integration of future acquisitions.
Responsibilities
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and consolidated financial reporting.
- Oversee corporate accounting operations and ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Maintain and improve multi-entity accounting structures, including the chart of accounts.
- Partner with operational and revenue cycle teams on revenue recognition, reserves, cash reconciliations, and cost allocation.
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls and financial reporting procedures.
- Lead external audits, tax compliance, and regulatory financial reporting.
- Oversee cash flow forecasting, working capital, reserves, lender reporting, and covenant compliance.
- Optimize accounting systems, reporting platforms, and processes to improve efficiency and shorten close cycles.
- Support accounting integration, opening balance sheets, and system onboarding related to acquisitions.
- Lead, develop, and hold accounting teams accountable for timely and accurate execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 15+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience, preferably within healthcare.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, cost controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience leading accounting teams within a multi-site or multi-entity organization.
- Experience with financial systems and automated accounting/reporting platforms.
- Strong leadership, communication, and process-improvement skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA strongly preferred.
- MBA or Master’s degree in Accounting preferred.
- Public accounting experience.
- Experience supporting acquisitions, accounting integrations, and opening balance sheet activities.
- Experience within physician practices or other multi-site healthcare environments.
