About the role

At Petco, we're dedicated to helping pets live their best lives. Our Associate Veterinarians are part of a dynamic team committed to excellence in veterinary care. You'll be working in our Vetco Total Care Full Service Veterinary Hospitals, where you'll be responsible for providing comprehensive patient care, surgical procedures, and developing treatment plans.

Responsibilities

- Provide excellent patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care. - Utilize a problem-based approach to develop a complete problem list, differential diagnoses, diagnostic plan, and appropriate treatments. - Document all patient observations, findings, treatments, and diagnoses in the medical record. - Perform routine and complex surgical procedures including spays, neuters, mass removals, and dental procedures. - Develop and implement treatment plans for hospitalized patients. - Participate in rounds and disseminate knowledge to the team. - Handle emergencies and communicate with referral hospitals as needed.

Requirements

- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school. - Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state where the hospital is located. - Current DEA license. - Current Controlled Substance License, if applicable. - USDA Category I (minimum) Accreditation or completion within two months of hire. - Comfortable performing anesthesia and routine surgeries including spays, neuters, mass removals, and dentals. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Compassionate and sympathetic attitude. - Telephone and computer skills. - Team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments.

Pay

Salary range: $120,000 - $150,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
