Associate Underwriter, Primary Casualty Large Commercial USRM

Your focus is to establish robust relationships internally and externally and to act as the critical interface between our brokers, clients, and the company. You are expected to continuously contribute towards improving our current working and underwriting practices.
About the role
As Associate Underwriter, you will support the Underwriting team and act as the owner and principal facilitator of assigned accounts. You will perform front-to-end activities throughout the life cycle of renewal and prospect accounts from submission to expiration with Underwriting oversight. This role will report to Head of West, Primary Casualty.
Responsibilities
- Review, evaluate risk, and assess completeness of the underwriting package before underwriter review.
- Communicate directly with brokers to collect account and insured information necessary for risk analysis.
- Perform and apply knowledge of line-of-business-specific product underwriting rules and/or guidelines to support submissions in preparation for quoting.
- Collaborate effectively with Underwriters, Brokers, and internal units within AXA XL to manage the status and workflow of multiple tasks and accounts.
- Communicate account status to ensure completion of outstanding subjectivities needed for policy issuance and premium collection as part of bound accounts.
- Set up manual rating (workers compensation, automobile, and general liability), complete and submit CAT modeling.
- Develop initial pricing (LST and APT), basic coverage structuring, quotation, and binder packages of the risk.
- Manage the workflow of multiple tasks and maintain a detailed understanding of the status of various tasks owned by Underwriters, Brokers, and AXA XL internal network.
- Communicate account status to ensure completion of all tasks including premium collection as part of bound accounts.
- Collaborate and correspond verbally and in written format with internal and external contacts across the country, keeping in mind differences in time zones, to achieve a high level of service and meet client expectations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or related insurance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Analytical, negotiation, and sales/marketing skills.

- Proven prioritization and time management skills with accurate results.

- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Pay
The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD 67,400 - 112,400. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience, and location.
