Responsibilities
- Develops profitable premium growth through policy processing and technical support for both new and renewal business.
- Operates under a designated level of authority at the direction of assigned underwriters.
- Creates strong agency relationships.
- Daily underwriting and processing of new and renewal business, endorsements, and premium audit transactions.
- Uses established practices, processes, and procedures to renew and write new policies based on underwriting authority.
- Reviews new and renewal business application documents and gathers additional information as needed to accurately underwrite policies.
- Understands rating methodology and coverage.
- Makes decisions and recommendations for varied situations applying judgment to interpret related information, policies, and procedures.
- Executes policies within established authority level.
- Identifies and analyzes low-to-moderate complexity accounts and makes sound underwriting decisions.
- Applies knowledge to help solve problems of low-to-moderate scope and complexity.
- Recommends solutions when outside of authority level.
- Committed to increasing customer satisfaction for both internal and external customers.
- Sets proper customer expectations.
- Assumes responsibility for solving customer problems.
- Ensures commitments to customers are met.
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to follow established processes and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of industry practices, standards, and underwriting concepts.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Able to multitask and solve basic problems.
- Able to handle various assignments.
- Demonstrated negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Proven analytical skills with ability to exercise sound business judgment.
- Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment, and software packages.
- Valid and unrestricted driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; experience in lieu of degree acceptable.
