Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Design traffic engineering designs, including: Traffic signal plans, Signing, striping, and pavement marking plans, Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) plans, Street lighting plans and photometric analyses, Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) packages for transportation improvement projects, Traffic Operations and Analysis, Support preparation of traffic impact studies, safety evaluations, and technical memoranda, Develop or assist in developing traffic signal timing plans, coordination strategies, and operational analyses using industry-standard software, Conduct field investigations and data collection efforts, Perform intersection capacity and operational analyses using Synchro, Assist in evaluating multimodal transportation improvements for pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit users
- Project Delivery: Coordinate with internal teams, public agency staff, utility companies, and external stakeholders, Ensure designs comply with applicable standards, including California MUTCD, HCM, Caltrans, and local agency guidelines, Support project management tasks including: Scheduling, Budget tracking, Client communications, Preparation of project deliverables, Review engineering work prepared by junior staff for technical accuracy and completeness, Participate in proposal preparation, scope development, and technical interviews as opportunities arise
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in traffic engineering or transportation design, Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification with the ability to obtain PE licensure, Proficiency in AutoCAD or Civil 3D, Working knowledge of the California MUTCD, Highway Design Manual, Caltrans Standard Plans and Specifications, and local agency design standards, Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Preferred Qualifications: California Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, Experience with Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, AutoTURN, or similar traffic engineering software, Experience preparing PS&E packages for public agency projects, Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam, Experience coordinating with municipal and state transportation agencies
